Holiday Gift Guide

Oh joy, it’s Black Friday, the dawn of all that is Holiday here in the USA. The new wild west of holiday gift giving: long lines, door-busters, and deep-discount deals that some camp out for weeks in advance. It’s the latest and greatest Television, the new smart phone, the 50-speed, turbo-charged, self-cleaning blender that you just can’t live without!

Instead of getting up early (or just not going to bed at all), I spent a fair amount of time this morning carefully considering the ways in which my holiday shopping habits impact the world around me. This year, in an effort to refocus my eager energy away from “must find the perfect gift for Auntie Lisa,”¬† toward¬† “must consider carefully the impact my dollar can make,” I’ve put together a holiday gift-guide for the conscientious shopper. A few items, locally and sustainably made, that I believe are worth your dollar vote. Each artist/designer/crafter behind these unique pieces has a story all their own, and the life and love that they share through their work makes each piece worth it’s weight in gold.

No standing in long lines at Super-mart, no assembly instructions, just quality craftsmanship from artist in your neighborhood… Now that sounds more like it. Enjoy!
